Ciudad Neza

Filed under: — pezza pan @ 2:25 pm

Ciudad Nezahualcoyotl is a part of Ciudad de Mexico, Mexico City Metropolitan area.

The yellow line in slide 8, connecting two ends of Ciudad Nezahualcoyotl, is 10 km long.

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Nezahualcoyotl is a municipio (municipality) of the State of Mexico adjacent to the eastern fringe of Mexico’s Federal District: it is thus part of the Mexico City Metropolitan Area. Its municipal seat is Ciudad Nezahualcoyotl (or Ciudad Neza).

It was named after Nezahualcoyotl, the Aztec poet and king of nearby Texcoco, and was built on the drained bed of Lake Texcoco. The name Nezahualcoyotl comes from the Nahuatl dialect and it means “fasting coyote”.

Nezahualcoyotl is a sprawling, dusty expanse of low-income housing. With a population of 1 140 528 in 2005, it is the second most populous municipality in the country, just below Ecatepec.

It is also considered among the most dangerous places in Mexico, due to the rampant crime in the area.
